Buster Finds His Beat is heart-warming story that encourages children to be inclusive, empathetic, understanding and welcoming when they meet other children who are different to them. The story brings awareness of diversity, captures the magic of imagination and promotes the importance of kindness.

This book alone meets several of the EYFS outcomes for children within the early years. The children in the Pre-School room today really enjoyed the story that Pamela Aculey read to them. We have had great discussions this morning about similarities and differences between us. Millie’s Mark, inspiring Excellence in Paediatric First Aid

We have some very exciting news!

We have successfully been awarded ‘Millie’s Mark’, a quality mark for nurseries, at our city centre branch.
This has been awarded to us because of knowledge on paediatric first aid and that we go above and beyond the minimum requirements to keep children safe and minimize risks and accidents.
This has been awarded by the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) and in association with the Department for Education and Millie’s trust.

Sensory experiences at the city site

The pre-school and holiday care children at the city site have been exploring various textures this week and getting good and messy. We have looked at pincer control, writing in couscous, making patterns in slimy soup and discussing how cornflour has a hard and slimy consistency at the same time

On behalf of Leicester’s Food Plan, Leicestershire City Council and Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetic Service, St George’s Nursery, William street have received their certificate on ensuring that they are encouraging and promoting healthy, balanced and nutritious food and drink. The team have been encouraging children to eat well and learn about food in their early years.

Eat Better Start Better accreditation at the city site

The Staff at the city site have worked really hard over the last few months to ensure that they get reaccredited for their eat better start better accreditation this week and they achieved this with flying colours. This accreditation shows parents that we work alongside the Leicester city council to ensure that we are providing healthy and well balanced meals for all children.

Well done to all of the staff at the city site.

Gardening at the City site

The children at the city site decided they would like to add some colour to our fairy garden and the children are really excited to show you!

The children have also been talking about where fruit and vegetables come from and we decided to plant some of our own.
We have planted some herbs, purple broccoli, a variety of berries, strawberries, round carrots and radishes.
We cant wait to try them!

Making Prayer Mats

This week at City Site the children in the 3-5 room have been talking about Ramadan and have been getting creative by making their own prayer mats. The children spoke about the different colours and patterns that they have used.

Kimbles Session

On Tuesday the 3-5s at our City Site took part in their first Kimbles session. They all had fun exploring new ways to move and express themselves through music and dance.

On Tuesday everyone at the City Site all took part in celebrating St Georges Day. All the children enjoyed craft activities they made their own shields and hats. At lunch time everyone got together and all enjoyed a delicious roast dinner.
